RESULTS is a movement of passionate, committed everyday people. We believe poverty is not inevitable, and that our voices have power. Together, we move lawmakers to build a more just and equitable world. We envision a world beyond poverty and the oppression that causes it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

A passionate network of advocates

RESULTS launched in 1980 when founder Sam Daley-Harris and a circle of concerned citizens decided the U.S. government must do more to end poverty. They organized to convince Congress to act on the global malnutrition crisis. Today, our network of volunteers and staff spans all 50 states. With expertise in policy and organizing, RESULTS staff support volunteers to become powerful advocates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, we push for policies that dismantle poverty and inequity in the U.S. and globally. We know that poverty cannot end while oppression exists. RESULTS values<\/a> are rooted in anti-oppression.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Headquartered in Washington DC, RESULTS is a non-partisan advocacy group. We believe every lawmaker can be an ally in the fight against poverty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our organization includes two nonprofits. There is the 501(c)(3) RESULTS Educational Fund and RESULTS, the 501(c)(4) grassroots lobbying arm. We also host the ACTION Global Health Advocacy Partnership, which has partners in 14 countries on five continents<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Advocacy starts with relationships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

High-impact advocacy starts with building relationships across the political spectrum. You might meet with your representative to ask for tax credits that reduce child poverty. You might write a letter to the editor urging action against global malnutrition. You might use that letter to capture the attention of your senator\u2019s office. It may help you get to know your local newspaper editor. You and your local community might come together to grow the movement for affordable housing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We take our role as advocates in our democracy seriously. And we use it to create transformative change.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

RESULTS gets results. Since 1980, our advocacy with Congress has helped direct more than $200 billion dollars toward anti-poverty efforts. We have grown U.S. funding for vaccines and global maternal and child health programs. These programs have helped save millions of lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve built congressional support for local programs reducing worldwide rates of AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis. Domestically, we have helped to protect and expand SNAP (formerly food stamps) and rental assistance. We played a key role in an expansion of the Child Tax Credit that temporarily cut U.S. child poverty nearly in half. And much, much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result: millions of people around the world have the tools to take better care of themselves, their families, and their communities. At the same time, everyday people across the U.S. have realized their power to effect change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
